Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE] · English only for now

Template, not legal advice. This document is a starting point. Replace every [bracketed] placeholder with your actual details, and have a lawyer review it before you rely on it — especially the refund/withdrawal section if you have customers in the EU or UK.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and [Your Company / Legal Name] ("ShareMyPlanner", "we", "us", "our"), governing your access to and use of the ShareMyPlanner website and calendar service (the "Service"), located at [your domain].

By creating an account, opening a shared calendar link, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What ShareMyPlanner is

ShareMyPlanner lets a registered user create calendars and share them via a link. Anyone who has that link can view the calendar, and — unless the calendar owner turns on view-only mode — can also add, edit, and delete events on it, without needing an account of their own.

We may add, change, or remove features over time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes, but we don't guarantee the Service, or any specific feature of it, will always be available.

3. Accounts

  • You need an email address and password to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.
  • You must be at least [13 / 16 — check your jurisdiction] years old to create an account.
  • You're responsible for anyone you give access to your account or to your calendar links.

4. Shared calendar links

This is the core of how ShareMyPlanner works, so it's worth being explicit about it:

  • A calendar's share link is, by design, the only thing that controls who can access it. Anyone who has the link can open the calendar, and — unless view-only mode is turned on — add, change, or delete events on it.
  • We have no way to know who a link was shared with or whether it's been forwarded further. You are responsible for who you share a calendar link with, and for choosing view-only mode where appropriate.
  • If a link is shared publicly or leaked, anyone who finds it can access that calendar under the same rules above. We recommend treating calendar links like a password.
  • We're not liable for changes made to a calendar by anyone who obtained the link, including changes made by people you didn't intend to share it with.

5. Free trial and subscription

  • There is no free tier. Every new account gets a [90]-day free trial with full access, starting the moment you register — no payment method required to start the trial.
  • After the trial ends, you need an active subscription to keep creating or editing calendars. Calendars you already made remain visible, but become view-only, until you subscribe.
  • Subscription: [$10] per [year], billed automatically on a recurring basis until you cancel. This is a subscription, not a one-time purchase — see the cancellation section below.
  • We may change pricing for new subscriptions at any time. We'll give existing subscribers reasonable notice before any price change takes effect on their next renewal.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store your card details ourselves — see our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Cancellation, renewal, and your right of withdrawal

[Fill in your actual refund policy — the paragraphs below outline what EU/UK/Danish consumer law generally requires for recurring/auto-renewing digital subscriptions; confirm the specifics with a lawyer.]

Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, using your saved payment method, until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account's billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.

Right of withdrawal: if you are a consumer purchasing from within the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar consumer protection law, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a new digital subscription within 14 days of first subscribing, without giving a reason. Because subscribing grants immediate access to a digital service, this right may be lost once you've started using the subscription and you have expressly acknowledged that use — which is why the checkout flow asks for that acknowledgment (a checkbox confirming you understand the subscription starts immediately, renews automatically, and that using it now waives the 14-day withdrawal right for that billing period) before completing payment. This applies to the first payment of a new subscription; it does not create a fresh 14-day window on every renewal.

Outside of any legal right of withdrawal, our voluntary refund policy is: [e.g., "refunds available within 14 days of a charge on request" / "no refunds on renewals" / your policy].

To cancel, request a refund, or ask about your rights, use your account's billing page or contact [support email].

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Store or share content that is illegal, harassing, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or a calendar you don't have a legitimate link to;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including probing, scanning, or attempting to brute-force calendar links;
  • Use the Service to send spam or malicious content to other people;
  • Use automated means to scrape or bulk-access the Service outside of normal use.

We may suspend or terminate accounts or calendars that violate this section.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of whatever you and the people you share links with put into your calendars (event titles, notes, dates, etc. — "Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that Content back to you and to anyone holding a valid calendar link, solely in order to operate the Service.

You're responsible for the Content added to your calendars, including Content added by anyone you've shared a link with.

9. Service availability and disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We recommend not using ShareMyPlanner as your only record of time-sensitive or critical events — keep your own backup for anything you can't afford to lose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [Your Company Name] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data, missed events, or unauthorized access via a shared link. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or [$0 / a nominal amount] if you're still within your free trial).

[Some jurisdictions don't allow limiting certain liabilities — this clause may not fully apply to you depending on where you or your users are based.]

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service entirely with reasonable notice where practical.

If we discontinue the Service, we'll aim to give registered users a reasonable window to export their calendar data beforehand.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated Terms here and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your country/state], without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights that can't be waived by this clause.
